Hello, y'all!
The rumors and whispers are indeed true. After months of secretly writing and recording, I’m excited and proud to announce my very first record release! SMOOTH LIKE JAZZ ON SUNDAY is an album (remember albums?!?!) that is the culmination of my journey through life thus far. Those of you that know me well know that, behind the glossy, carefree, sophisticated facade & fabulous hair, I’m a true, simple Jazzbo at heart. My grandfather was a big band drummer & orchestra leader, and I grew up on the classics…Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Gato Barbieri, and Kenny G. When I look back at my life, there isn’t really a major moment (becoming a man, graduating school, meeting my girl, the birth of my children, or the time I won the Taylor Swift ticket lottery during the REPUTATION tour) that wasn’t enhanced, and accompanied by, jazz. Quite simply, Jazz is the soundtrack to our lives. And this album seeks to underline that.
Next Friday ,April 19th, the first single from the album, my take on the George Benson Smooth Jazz megahit GIVE ME THE NIGHT drops! A sample of the song is coming soon!
The album features original songs, and my interpretations of several timeless jazz classics. I was lucky enough to get some big names to lend their voices to this project, and without giving away too much, I think the tracklist will surely pique your interest. (Also, in a greatly unexpected turn of events, the surprise retirement announcement by Lizzo over the weekend makes this the final song she’ll be featured on!)
I hope you’ll come along for the ride. I’ll have more news on this record in the coming days, including info on my very first live show as a performing artist, and here on the new website you can follow along in real time.
